TiefPrompt Privacy Policy
Effective date: 5 May 2026 Version: 1.0
Summary
TiefPrompt is a teleprompter application. It does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server operated by the developer. Everything you put into TiefPrompt — scripts, settings, profiles, keybindings — stays on your device. The developer has no access to it, cannot read it, and cannot recover it.
The only network communication performed by TiefPrompt is in-app purchase validation in the Freemium build, which is handled by Apple or Google respectively (see Section 6). The FOSS build performs no network communication at all.
This policy describes the current version of TiefPrompt. Future versions may introduce optional server-based features (such as cross-device synchronization and remote control). These features will be opt-in, will require creating an account, and will present updated privacy terms for explicit consent before any data is transmitted. If you never opt in, nothing in this policy changes for you.
1. Definitions
This policy distinguishes between two builds of TiefPrompt:
- Freemium build — the build distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store (iOS and macOS) and the Google Play Store (Android). This build contains in-app purchase functionality and performs network communication for in-app purchase validation only, on your device.
- FOSS build — the free and open-source build distributed through F-Droid (Android), https://lukechriswalker.at, and GitHub Releases (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android). This build contains no in-app purchase functionality and performs no network communication of any kind.
Where this policy refers to “TiefPrompt” without qualification, the statement applies to both builds. Where a statement applies to only one build, that build is named explicitly.
2. Who is responsible
TiefPrompt is developed and published by:

3. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the TiefPrompt application on all platforms and through all distribution channels listed below:
| Build | Platform | Distribution channel |
|---|---|---|
| Freemium | iOS | Apple App Store |
| Freemium | macOS | Mac App Store |
| Freemium | Android | Google Play |
| FOSS | Android | F-Droid, https://lukechriswalker.at, GitHub Releases |
| FOSS | Windows | https://lukechriswalker.at, GitHub Releases |
| FOSS | macOS | https://lukechriswalker.at, GitHub Releases |
| FOSS | Linux | https://lukechriswalker.at, GitHub Releases |
It does not cover the websites themselves (separate privacy notices apply where relevant), nor any third-party service you may separately choose to use alongside TiefPrompt.
4. Data the app does not collect
The developer does not collect, receive, store, or process any of the following:
- The content of your scripts, including any personal, professional, or sensitive text you enter or import
- Your settings, profiles, or keybindings
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifier
- Your IP address or approximate location
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or any analytics or telemetry data
- Crash reports or diagnostic data
- Usage patterns, session duration, feature interaction, or any behavioral data
No third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs are integrated into TiefPrompt in either build, on any platform.
5. Data stored locally on your device
TiefPrompt stores the following on your device only:
- Scripts you create or import into the app
- Application settings and user preferences
- Profiles and keybindings you configure
- In the Freemium build: a local record of your in-app purchase entitlement (see Section 7)
This data is stored using your operating system’s standard application data storage mechanisms. It is accessible only to TiefPrompt and, in accordance with your operating system’s access controls, to you. It is not transmitted anywhere by the app. You can remove all locally stored data by uninstalling TiefPrompt, or by using your operating system’s application data management tools.
6. Permissions requested by the app
TiefPrompt requests the following operating system permissions, each tied to a specific feature, used only at the moment that feature is invoked, and processed only on your device:
- Storage / file access (iOS, Android): to allow you to import scripts from your device’s storage and to export scripts you have written.
Desktop builds (Windows, Linux, macOS) do not request additional permissions beyond those implicit in running a standard user-space application.
No data accessed through any of these permissions is transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
7. In-app purchases (Freemium build only)
The Freemium build of TiefPrompt offers a one-time unlock purchase. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store, Mac App Store) or Google (Google Play); the developer does not see, receive, or store your payment information, your name, your email address, or any other personal detail associated with the purchase.
Apple and Google each provide the app with a cryptographic receipt confirming that a purchase was made. TiefPrompt validates this receipt on your device using StoreKit (iOS, macOS) or the Google Play Billing Library (Android). The receipt is not transmitted to any server operated by the developer. No server operated by the developer is involved in the purchase or validation flow.
Apple’s and Google’s own handling of your payment data is governed by their respective privacy policies:
- Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
The FOSS build does not contain any in-app purchase functionality and does not perform any network communication for this or any other purpose.
8. Third parties
No third-party SDKs, services, libraries, or integrations in TiefPrompt collect, transmit, or receive data about you. The only third parties involved in the app’s operation are:
- Apple and Google, in their capacity as app store and billing providers for the Freemium build, under their own privacy policies linked above.
- F-Droid, as a distribution channel for the FOSS Android build, under its own privacy terms at https://f-droid.org/.
- GitHub, as a distribution channel for FOSS releases, under its own privacy terms at https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement.
The developer does not share any data with these parties, because the developer does not collect any data in the first place.
9. Children’s privacy
TiefPrompt is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. Where applicable national or regional law sets a digital age of consent, the app’s zero-collection design means no parental consent mechanism is required for the current version of the app.
10. Your data protection rights
If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right not to be subject to automated decision-making, as set out in Articles 15 to 22 GDPR (and equivalent provisions of UK law). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority under Article 77 GDPR.
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the rights granted by your state’s law, which may include the right to know, to delete, to correct, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The developer does not sell, share, or otherwise disclose personal information, and does not offer any financial incentive in exchange for personal information.
Because the developer does not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is in practice nothing to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, opt out of, or object to. Exercising any of these rights will typically result in a confirmation from the developer that no such data exists.
How to submit a request
You can submit a request by email to admin@lukechriswalker.at. Please describe your request as specifically as possible. The developer may need to ask you for additional information in order to confirm your identity, but only to the extent necessary to ensure that information is not disclosed to anyone other than the data subject.
How long does the developer have to respond
The developer will respond to your request without undue delay and in any event within one month of receipt. This period may be extended by a further two months where necessary, taking into account the complexity and number of requests; the developer will inform you of any such extension within one month of receipt of the request, together with the reasons for the delay.
Where to lodge a complaint
You can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your member state of residence. In Austria, the competent supervisory authority is:
Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Wien, Austria Telephone: +43 1 52 152-0 Email: dsb@dsb.gv.at Web: https://www.dsb.gv.at
11. Data retention
The developer does not retain any personal data, because none is collected. Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete it or uninstall the application.
Receipts for in-app purchases in the Freemium build are retained by Apple and Google according to their own retention policies.
12. International data transfers
No international data transfers take place, because no data is collected or transmitted to any server operated by the developer. Any transfers carried out by Apple, Google, F-Droid, or GitHub in connection with app distribution or in-app purchases are governed by their respective privacy policies.
13. Security
Because no data leaves your device, the security of your TiefPrompt data is determined by the security of your device and your operating system. TiefPrompt uses standard operating-system-provided application storage mechanisms and does not implement custom network transport, because it does not perform network transport.
When in-app purchase receipts are validated in the Freemium build, the cryptographic operations involved are performed by Apple’s and Google’s respective first-party libraries on your device.
14. Changes to this policy
The developer may update this policy to reflect changes in the application, in applicable law, or in business operations. When material changes are made — in particular, if and when optional server-based features (such as synchronization or remote control) are introduced — you will be presented with the updated policy in-app and asked to provide explicit consent before any new processing activity applies to you. If you do not consent, the new feature will simply not be available to you, and the existing offline functionality of TiefPrompt will continue to work as described in this policy.
Non-material updates (such as clarifications, corrections, or contact-detail changes) will be reflected by updating the effective date and version at the top of this document. The authoritative current version is always the one published at https://tiefprompt.com/policies/privacy/en.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
This policy is governed by the laws of Austria, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Vienna, Austria, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement.
Nothing in this clause affects your right as a data subject under the GDPR to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your member state of residence.
